This is after.

There are still a few little fly aways that will pop up to trim and in a week it will look more worn. I'm excited, I can use product again. Woo! Bad note: I did accidentally shove the scissors up my nose (sharp hair scissors) because I'm a clutz.

Likes?

This was my inspiration:

I love the sunny sun sun

I made this little dress for a girl that my friend adopted from China, I hope it fits, she is 3 and I heard she is tall, width is fine, I guess either way it can be a top too!! The tie is a brooch so it's removable.

I did some braided ties. Braiding is a GREAT help for any straps or ties. It makes a simple and pretty look.

And you don't have to hide-seam sew any straps!

I thought this was a cute little addition too!

Tonight is the last lesson in my class! Yummy Sorbet!! But no worries, I am doing a summer class with yummy kebabs, bacon florentine, chocolate banana melts(for throwing on a open fire! Go lake food!!) and stuffed Jelapenos!

That won't start until May, as this month I am having gastirc bypass surgery. You've heard the horror stories, believe me, so have I but I've heard the great successes too. And although I'm super nervous (considering today I got a paper telling me to sign on the dotted line because you could die in surgery or from bloodclots) I'm super excited too.

It's Friday! Friday is my favourite day of the week..
1. Tonight I stay up real late. I might get some typing in before that.
2. Tomorrow morning - hello sleeping in (minus letting the dog out lol)
3. I might visit my Aunt Georgina tomorrow
4. Start the Natalini project (a thank you package of goodies)
5. Make some more goodies for friends, maybe a few hair slides, brooches and a teddy bear perhaps
6. Planting herbs
7. Going to church

AND

Monday: Daniel is here until Wed. Wooooowhoo.

What are you doing this weekend? And gimme your honest opinion on the little dress..ok for a beginner? Pretty good? Don't quit your day job? lol

Juliet you know you want it!

This is basically how it is going to be. I have a few touch ups to do - some sponging on the garage building and some more sky detail to do, maybe her heair a bit. But I'm really pleased, they seem more together now.

What do you think?

Tutorial on how to make you own pasta noodles!!

Are you tired of the tasteless dry pasta you buy from the supermarket? Getting the consistancy just right can be tough too. If you are anything like my family we LOVE fresh pasta. But fresh pasta costs 3 to 4 times more than dried pasta and if you don't cook it all, it goes moldy in the fridge.

Don't be intimidated - make it yourself. If you don't have a pasta roller/cutter/maker thing then go and get yourself one, but honestly it's not essential.

Making your pasta dough. Pasta really on consists of eggs and flour. This makes it possible to eat freshly made and dry to store. You can add different ingredients as you learn more about making it. My first try (which is pictured) was 100g (about 5 cups) of flour and 5 eggs. I've looked this up online and it seems to be consistantly 1 egg to 1 cup of flour.

Add flour to a mixing bowl. Make a cup in the middle by pushing the flour out to the sides, add your eggs into this cup in the middle of the flour. With a fork pull the flour in from the outsides repeatedly until you form a soft dough. Knead dough with wrists and finger tips until you have an elasticy dough. At this point I flattened my dough and added a little Italian Sea Salt and Italian Herbs and also a little bit of Mint. (All dried herbs) and kneaded it in folding as I go. Form a ball of dough, cover tightly with cling film and refridgerate for 1 hour.

You should end up with something like this - cut into 4 sections.

If you do not have a pasta maker, divide your sections smaller - they will roll out really thin. Flour the surface you are working on and begin with little pressure to roll out your dough. Add more flour and more pressure as you go.

If you have a past maker, set it on the thickest setting and each roll through add more flour to both sides(this stops it from sticking to machinery, itself and you!).

With each run through turn the setting to a thinner setting, when you have reached the thinnest, you are ready to cut.

Flour your pasta one more time and run it through the cutter, remember to have someone help you or make sure you have a bowl placed under cutter to catch your pasta.

If you want to dry your pasta, be sure to flour it one more time so that it does not stick, straighten it as you cut onto a baking sheet. Let stand in room temp with a towl over it to dry.

If you do not have a pasta cutter simply cut it with your knife, you can make bowties or even cute shapes. (Like say - hearts for valentines day) if you cut small squares and pinch the edges you get pasta shells!

If you want to eat it straight away boil some water and drop it in. Watch it immediately go from a yellowish doug like consistancy to a white noodle! It will only a take a couple minutes to cook because it is so fresh and voila!

Delicious pasta you make yourself.

For raviolli simple do not run through cutter and make nice rectangles with your flat pasta, fill, and make a white wash/egg wash to bind the edges. Fill with whatever you like. I am going to try a "Lasagne Raviolli" which is each component of lasagne in a raviolli noodle. Ricotta(or cottage cheese) in one, meat in another, tomatoes and onions in another and topped with bolognaise sauce. Yummy.

For lasagne noodles simple cut to fit your pan. It makes lasagne so much easier as you can even make one large noodle to a custom fit for your pan! and layer as normal.

Give it a try and let me know how it goes or what cominations you enjoy. Experiment, if it goes wrong you wasted a little time and an egg or two and some flour, big whoop, at least you didn't waste it on those store bought pastas! If you have questions feel free to ask!

Hello. Hello Fall. Hello you.

Hey everyone, I just wanted to share with you a few things today!! It's FALL. Yes, here in England it's fall, as in cold and dark..sooner. It gets dark around 4:30pm. So we only have a few hours of good light. BUT it feels like halloween. I'm not a big celebrator, I go out in the States, dress up. But I don't really party much or trick or treat. But the strange thing is, when I go for a walk..to the next town..it smells like it did when I was kid. The sun is shining but it's also cloudy, it's chilly but a flannel shirt is all I need, and it smells..it smells like freshness. You feel the warmth of the inside..outside and appreciate it much more. Home becomes cozy, inside warm, hot things comforting. The smell of apple pie or mince pies makes you want to curl up and watch a movie or play a game or (for me!!) scrap book. Tea tastes better, sleep is harder. It's fall.

So I made these fingerless gloves!!

I know they kind of look hobo(ish) still but do not fear, these special fingerless gloves I will be adding buttons and lace to. Maybe some cool stuff I find.

FALL!

My Mum made them, I iced them. BOOOOO!!!
Boolicious.
This is where I walk!!
This is the pub up the road! Doesn't it remind you of The Holiday!! Hehe.

My first layout in my scrap book where I've sewn it!!

See!!
This is of my great friend/brother Elree Ellis(as most know him). He changed my life in one summer. I've never seen so much love from someone as I have from this man and his family. Now I have many sisters and brothers and even a Mum away from my real Mum. Sharon, Will's mother always makes a soul feel loved and welcome and we enjoy eachothers fellowship so much!! Love and miss you guys!!
That's all for now. I'm very sleepy. But tomorrow we get our frist Tesco Rental by post. Wooowhoo finally some good wholesome films, instead of the flops that they have available at Blockbuster here.
Peace and Love!
BOOOOO!!
